At Transformative Functional Medicine, our philosophy of care is rooted in a holistic, patient-centered approach that integrates the principles of functional medicine with the compassionate, personalized care provided by a certified nurse midwife (CNM). Our goal is to support and empower individuals through all stages of life, from puberty to pregnancy planning and birth to ongoing wellness and vitality through menopause and beyond. Our philosophy of care is a reflection of our commitment to transforming health and empowering individuals to achieve their fullest potential. We are honored to be partners in our patients' health journeys and dedicated to helping them live vibrant, healthy lives.
Holistic and Comprehensive Care
We believe in treating the whole person, not just symptoms. Our approach considers the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health. By addressing the root causes of illness and promoting overall well-being, we strive to achieve optimal health outcomes for our patients.
Patient-Centered and Empowering
Midwife means “with woman”. Our care is centered around the individual needs and goals of each patient. We empower our patients to take an active role in their health journey by providing education, resources, and support. We listen to their concerns, respect their choices, and collaborate with them to develop personalized care plans that align with their values and lifestyles.

Evidence Based and Integrative
We integrate the best of conventional and functional medicine to provide evidence based care. Our treatments are informed by the latest research and clinical guidelines, as well as the unique insights gained from functional medicine practices. This integrative approach allows us to offer a broad range of therapeutic options, including nutritional and lifestyle interventions, natural therapies and supplements, and advanced diagnostics and medications when needed and desired.
Compassionate and Relationship-Oriented
Compassion and empathy are at the heart of our care philosophy. We build trusting, long-term relationships with our patients, ensuring they feel heard, valued, and supported throughout their health journey. Our practice is a safe and welcoming space where patients can share their experiences and concerns openly.
Preventive and Proactive
We prioritize prevention and early intervention to maintain health and prevent disease. By identifying risk factors and imbalances early on, we can implement strategies to promote health and prevent illness. Our proactive approach helps patients achieve and sustain long-term wellness.
Collaboration and Continuity of Care
We collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care. This team approach allows us to address complex health issues effectively and provide seamless continuity of care. We also work closely with our patients' families and support networks to foster a holistic and supportive healing environment.
Trauma Informed
At Transformative Functional Medicine, we understand that trauma can profoundly affect physical, emotional, and mental health. Our trauma-informed care approach recognizes the impact of trauma and emphasizes safety, trustworthiness, and collaboration in the healing process. We are committed to providing a compassionate, respectful, and empowering environment for all our patients.

At Transformative Functional Medicine, we are committed to excellence in all aspects of care. We continually seek to enhance our knowledge and skills through ongoing education and professional development. Our dedication to quality care ensures that our patients receive the highest standard of treatment and support.
I graduated nursing school with my BSN in 1998 and spent the next 10 years working in critical care units. I learned so much and loved caring for people in this new way; nursing people back to health was so rewarding! I treated people in the way I knew at the time and per doctor’s orders, using traditional medicine. There were lots of pills given, and many side effects treated, requiring more pills. I saw lots of people having return hospitalizations, and plenty who didn’t get better in spite of following their treatment plans to the letter. I watched them be judged and labeled as “non-compliant”, while feeling hopeless and frustrated, taking more and more pills and having more frequent hospitalizations. I often wondered if there was a better way to treat people with these experiences. By this time I was having babies, and I met a lovely certified nurse midwife (CNM). She opened my eyes to person-centered care, holistic and alternative treatments, and inspired me to begin my own midwifery education. This was my introduction to the better treatments I had so often wondered about.
My Story
I graduated with my MSN and became a CNM in 2008. Within a year, I had opened my home birth practice and I was thrilled to be able to offer people customized treatments that fit in with their values and their lifestyles. I had a focus on nutrition and lifestyle for illness prevention and health improvement. I offered unwavering support to people no matter where they were in their journey. I was now holding hands with people in a different kind of transition! I was also caring for women with needs for primary care, treating chronic health conditions holistically. Partnered with women offering quality support, focused coaching, and loving encouragement, many of my patients were able to reduce or eliminate medications for hypertension and diabetes, achieve pregnancy after struggling with PCOS and irregular cycles, and ease perimenopausal symptoms. I loved attending births, welcoming new souls earthside. Energetically I found it so similar to the energies of the hospice patients I had cared for when I was young.

Having a commitment to lifelong learning, I have attended many conferences and taken many classes over the years. In 2023 I discovered functional medicine and knew I needed to advance my knowledge in this area. The disordered sleep schedule of being on call combined with perimenopause had taken a toll on my health and I needed to heal. I also strongly desired to be able to help more people with their health concerns than attending births allowed for. I retired from this aspect of my career and used functional medicine to improve my hormones. I felt better than I had in years! My goal is to help as many people as I can to feel better so they can avoid end of life regrets related to not addressing health concerns, and so they can be with their families longer and feel well for those added years. I am so happy to offer you healing with Transformative Functional Medicine! I can’t wait to meet you and be your guide on your journey to transform your health!
I have dedicated my life to helping people improve their health, and therefore their lives. I started my journey at age 17, working in home health as a certified nursing assistant, and providing care to hospice patients. I felt honored to hold hands with people who were in transition, listening to their stories and hearing about the things they had done, and the things they wished they had done. The biggest regrets people shared with me were not going after their dreams, and not doing things to improve their health so they could be here longer with their families. Based on these experiences I determined to do the things I dreamed of, and to keep myself in the best health possible.
